I know it's been forever since I last wrote on my blog. I appreciate the emails I received from some of you asking if we were ok. It's such a blessing to have friends out there who are always thinking and praying for us. I can't tell you how that makes me feel.
So, where have I been? Well, the last 2 months were absolutely horrible for us health-wise. Besides our normal health problems we first got sinus infections and your typical run of the mill cold followed immediately by strep throat. We never get strep and yet we got it! Upon healing from the strep (and by healing I mean we were off antibiotics for 1 day) we got a full fledged raging epidemic of the flu. Kaylie and I were the first to come down with it. It is a bad, bad thing when your biggest helper is sick at the same time you are. We were both bedridden for over a week. Of course it followed that Mike and the others got sick as well however because we started them all on Tamiflu pretty quickly they weren't near as bad as we were. Savannah was the only one that didn't get sick. In the words of Napoleon Dynamite... "Lucky".
I am still feeling weak and I suppose my pregnancy is the reason for that. Trying to grow a little person and fighting off the flu tends to wear you down! Still, at 23 weeks now, pregnancy wise we are doing great. Being sick was terrible for my diabetes but other than some contractions little bean is doing well (but that is a separate post altogether!) I was really hoping to cash in on some of that 2nd trimester energy but being sick for so long really robbed me of that. I have a feeling that I'll continue to get better but won't be 100% until later and then I'll be getting into that 3rd trimester drag where you are hurting and big and uncomfortable. That's ok though. I'm just happy that things are going well.
It's been a rough go of it but most of us are on the mend. We have a couple that are now a little sick with colds and Ben's having allergy/pooping issues but those are things we are used to and can handle. I titled my blog "Pass the Flu Bug Please" because all the medical things we go through are so hard on us but truly, sometimes the flu is much worse, especially when I am down and they need me. But it is short term and that is the beauty of it.... you feel horrible for a while but you do get over it. I'm just so thankful that the flu is not a chronic disease/problem because if it was you know my family would have it!
